Why do students need to know about ratio?
Simplifying ratios is the foundations in the topic of Ratio. This then allows students to share amounts in a ratio which is a common assessment question.
Sharing an amount in a ratio allows students to divide an amount (e.g sweets) unevenly between different people. For example, lets imagine 3 people buy a packet of sweets but put different amounts of money towards the purchase. We would then need to split the sweets according to how much money each person put in.
Will there be more sessions on ratio?
Over the next 2 weeks there is sessions planned on ratio to take a look at sharing an amount in a ratio. Wednesday’s is designated for Ratio and Proportion so there will be more sessions on these topics each week.
