Standard Form (KS4: Year 10 and 11)

How do I join the session?

One day before the lesson you will receive a link and passcode to join the lesson. Click the link and type in the passcode.

You will then have the option to join on the website or via the zoom app.

I would recommend downloading the zoom app and joining via zoom.

What will be covered in the lesson?

A lesson on standard form for students in year 10 and 11. We will cover the following in the lesson:

  1. Writing numbers in standard form
  2. Writing standard form as normal numbers
  3. Multiplying and dividing standard form
  4. Adding and subtracting standard form

Why do students need to know about standard form?

If asked someone to do 200 x 300, they may be able to break this down by doing 2 x 3 and add some zeros.

However, if I asked someone to do 230000 x 3540000, this may be a little more difficult.

Standard form makes writing large and small numbers easier. This makes calculations with these numbers easier to complete.

Will there be more sessions on standard form?

Yes. Standard form is a number topic and we cover these on Tuesdays.

Can I request a topic to cover?

Yes! Get in contact by filling in the form below and I will schedule a lesson for the topic of your choice!
